Voll and Devine's mastery - It was almost a one woman contest early on, Georgia Voll against the entire Phoenix attack, as the Welsh opener barged through the gates with unmistakable intent, toying with the field with absolute ease. The bowlers simply couldn't find a way through, and that early failure laid the foundation for everything Fire built afterwards. Quieter patches came through the middle, but without wickets falling, the charge always felt just around the corner. Voll found the perfect foil in captain Sophie Devine, who made sure someone batted through even after Voll fell, arriving late to supply the flourish that pushed Fire past a merely good total. Credit too to Capsey and Smith, who clawed back some control late on with timely wickets.

Results haven't always gone their way this season, she admits, but the group has gelled well regardless, and this felt like the opportunity to finally turn good patches into a result, one they were excited to seize. When she is asked about how the game ebbed and flowed, she singles out the Capsey partnership as crucial, calling her batting one of the highlights, and explains the plan was to keep something in hand for the last 10 overs and take the chase deep, which they managed in the end.
