Half centuries for Babar Azam and Haris Sohail has seen Pakistan post a competitive total in this one-off T20I at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Their partnership of 103 runs came in quick time as England struggled to contain the scoring through the middle overs. Jofra Archer removed both in quick succession to wrestle back some control for the hosts, as at one stage it seemed as though 200 was on the cards. It should be a thrilling chase for the raucous crowd in Wales.

The tourists posted 173/6 on the back of fluent fifties from Babar Azam and Haris Sohail, with Jofra Archer impressing with the ball in hand. In reponse, Joe Root held things together while Eoin Morgan smashed a crucial half century to take the hosts to victory. Pakistan were a little sloppy in the field and with their running between the wickets, in the end it has cost them dearly in a tight contest. In contrast, England looked sharp in those areas which bodes well for them heading into the ODI series which starts at The Oval on Wednesday.
