What a morning for New Zealand and Tim Southee, Shami was just going for it at the end there, eventually a booming drive goes to a fielder and Southee gets his fourth. Quality bowling display from New Zealand, they didn't put a foot wrong, they go into their innings full of confidence as they look to get a big first innings lead.

New Zealand end the innings with 348, a really good score and a big lead of 183 which puts massive pressure on the two openers. India had a great start to the session with the wicket of Watling, but after that flurry they didn't bowl to the best of their ability. New Zealand will take that, lots of work to do from their bowlers though with this pitch flattening out.

Terrific display from the hosts to get the lead in the series and break the table toppers unbeaten run. Their bowling was the stand out for me, such a tight line and length they bowled to a plan that worked every time. They go into the next game with a series win on their minds, even if they don't come out with it, they will be very happy to beat the number one ranked test side.
