  • A win for Pakistan in this match would equal only their second ever multi-game men's bilateral Test series victory against South Africa (1-0 in 2003); they triumphed by seven wickets in the first game of this series.
  • South Africa will be looking to avoid a fourth consecutive multi-game men's bilateral Test series loss away from home; it would be the first time the Proteas have lost as many such series in succession since losing each of their first seven in the format (July 1907 - February 1932).
  • Pakistan won their most recent men's Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by an innings and 44 runs (v Bangladesh, February 2020); they will be aiming to secure back-to-back wins at the venue for the first time.

  • Yasir Shah (234) is three away from becoming the fifth all-time leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in men’s Tests; he finished with figures of 7/133 in the first Test of this series.
  • Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) has a bowling strike rate of 41.1 in Test cricket, the best by any player to take at least 150 wickets in the men’s format.
  • Rassie van der Dussen (South Africa) was the only batsman with a false shot percentage (9.4) under 10% in the first Test of this series.
  • Faheem Ashraf (Pakistan) finished with the best dot ball percentage (89.3%) of any bowler in the first Test of this series; it was the first time he has failed to claim a wicket during a Test appearance, however.
