We are back for the chase! The players are already out in the middle now. Amit Sathvik and Tushar Raheja are the two openers for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. Gurjapneet Singh will start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Wickets but no knockout blow - IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans started brilliantly with the ball, reducing the Panthers to 45/3 in the Powerplay and then 76/7, but they could not finish the job. Mathivannan M led the attack with 3/18, while Mohan Prasath and T Natarajan picked up two wickets each, though the latter proved expensive. Ragupathy Silambarasan’s injury was another setback, ruling him out of the death overs. Pranav Ragavendra chipped in with one, but ITT will feel they let the Panthers off and would have hoped to chase a much smaller total. Join us in a bit for the second essay.
Panthers fight back - Siechem Madurai Panthers will take this total, especially after being in serious trouble at 76/7 and staring at a possible collapse. Ram Kumar’s 25 off 18 was the only significant contribution until then, but Rohan Bhurta changed the script with a fierce counter-attack alongside Atheeq Rhaaman. The pair added 73 runs in quick time, with the Panthers finishing strongly by smashing 56 in the last five overs to give their bowlers something to work with.
Not out! Mohan Prasath fires in an arm ball, full and angling into leg. Gurjapneet Singh has a swing but misses. Tushar Raheja collects it and takes one bail off. There is a check for stumping, but the replay shows that Singh has his foot inside the crease. However, D. Deepesh also tries to steal a bye, and Singh leaves his crease, but by the time Raheja tries to uproot the stump, Deepesh is inside his crease. However, Singh never made it to the other end, so the run won't count. Siechem Madurai Panthers finish on 157/9!
No run. Play and a miss! The batter wasn't quite sure how to play that one.
D. Deepesh is the last man in.
OUT! RAHMAN IS RUN OUT! Mohan Prasath nails another yorker, on middle, Atheeq Rahman jams it out to the left of the bowler and sets off for the run. Mohan is quick to get to the ball, takes aim and hits the stumps at the bowler's end, with Rahman nowhere near the crease. Siechem Madurai Panthers are 157/9 now.
Yorker, on middle and leg, Gurjapneet Singh tries to slog but gets an inside edge onto his boot as the ball rolls to short third. They cross.
1 run, that is lofted away for a single.
SIX! Perfect start to the final over! A full toss, on middle and leg, Atheeq Rahman clears his front leg and slogs it powerfully over the deep mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
End of a fine 73-run stand. Gurjapneet Singh comes out to the middle.
OUT! TAKEN! T Natarajan finishes his spell with a wicket. He bangs this into the pitch, outside off, takes pace off again. Rohan Bhutra tries to drag the swat but can only get a top edge. It flies towards deep square leg, where Pradosh Ranjan Paul settles under it and takes a fine catch.
A bumper, outside off, Rohan Bhutra steps across to pull it away but misses. He takes a review for a wide. Ball Tracking shows that is below the head of the batter and the on-field call stands.
No run, beaten! Lovely bowling as the batter is defeated all ends up by the lack of pace.
A high full toss, on middle, dips in a bit, Atheeq Rahman gets surprised by it but manages to pat it to the left of the bowler for a single. Rahman has taken a review for a No Ball. The Ball Tracking shows that it is above the waist of the batter. No Ball given. Free Hit coming up now.
FOUR! Make that a hat-trick of boundaries! Pitched up and on middle and leg. Atheeq Rahman moves across a bit and swipes it away, beating deep fine to his right for four more runs.
FOUR MORE! T Natarajan bangs this into the pitch, on middle and leg, takes pace off. Atheeq Rahman gets inside the line of it and hooks it past the keeper, to the fine leg fence for a boundary.
FOUR! Gets it away! Fuller one and angling down the leg side. Atheeq Rahman does well to reach out for it and whips it wide of deep fine leg for a boundary.

1 run, this is driven through mid on for a single.
1 run, the slog is played by the batter. Results in a run.
No run, that is driven straight back but it is stopped.
1 run, the on drive comes out now. The batter gets a run.
Fires in a yorker, on off, Atheeq Rahman jams it out to backward point for a single.
Uh..oh! Ragupathy Silambarasan has pulled up in his run-up. Looks like a cramp, and the physio is in to check on him. He will not be able to continue and is walking off. Mohan Prasath will bowl this over.
Pitched up and on middle, Atheeq Rahman drills it down the pitch, where T Natarajan gets low on his follow-through to get a hand on it to slow it down as it rolls to mid on. One taken.
WIDE! Slower bouncer but down the leg side yet again, Atheeq Rahman leaves it alone. Fourth wide of the over.
2 runs, the pull shot comes into play. Two runs taken.
WIDE! Full and again down the leg side. Atheeq Rahman lets it go. That brings up the 50-run stand between these two batters.
Moving on - Right then, that brings us to the end of an entertaining contest, where IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans knock Siechem Madurai Panthers from the top of the table and take their place. But the action doesn’t stop here, as Nellai Royal Kings are set to take on SKM Salem Spartans in our next game, which gets underway shortly. Spartans have won the toss and elected to BAT first. Head over to the other tab to follow all the action from that one. Cheers!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Pradosh Ranjan Paul wins the award for his match-winning knock of 65* off 45. He says his role is to act as the bridge between the top and lower order, with his job being to stay at the crease and finish games. He shares that the message to Ganesh after the quick wickets was simple - to take the chase as deep as possible, knowing that the pressure would eventually build on the opposition as the required runs and balls came down. On his multi-format aspirations, Paul says he is still learning and working on his white-ball game, adding that there is plenty of work to do before becoming a three-format player. For now, he is focused on the present and finishing games for his team.
Madurai could not contain the charge - Siechem Madurai Panthers picked up a couple of wickets in the Powerplay but were blown away by the opposition skipper, who put them firmly on the back foot. Shoaib Md Khan then led a spirited fightback with an excellent 4/21, while D. Deepesh and Gurjapneet Singh chipped in with one each. However, the damage had been done early, with too many runs conceded in the Powerplay, and despite their best efforts, SMP simply did not have enough on the board to defend.
Panthers find a way back - Earlier in the game, Siechem Madurai Panthers were in deep trouble at 76/7 after IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans had made an excellent start with the ball, reducing them to 45/3 in the Powerplay. But just when a low total had seemed likely, Rohan Bhutra and Atheeq Rahman launched a stunning counter-attack, adding 73 in quick time. The Panthers smashed 56 in the final five overs to finish with something to defend, while ITT rued not finishing the job after Mathivannan M ’s 3/18 and two wickets apiece for Mohan Prasath and T Natarajan.
ITT overcome the wobble - Despite losing Amit Sathvik early, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans made a flying start, with skipper Tushar Raheja leading the charge. He went after the bowling from the outset, smashing five sixes in an over from Rohan Bhutra, as ITT raced to 81/2 in the Powerplay. Raheja fell for a stunning 48 off just 17, triggering a mini-collapse to 91/5, but Pradosh Ranjan Paul held firm at one end. He found a willing partner in Ganesh S, with the pair adding 38 to break the back of the chase. Ganesh fell before the finish, but Paul completed a fine half-century and saw ITT home in style.
A Dream Start for Raheja - An excellent start to life as captain for Tushar Raheja in the absence of Sai Kishore, who begins his stint with a fantastic win that takes IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to the top of the table and strengthens their playoff hopes. For Siechem Madurai Panthers, it is a second straight defeat at the wrong stage of the campaign, leaving them desperate for a win in their final game to keep their playoff fate in their own hands.
SIX! Pradosh Ranjan Paul finishes things off in style! D. Deepesh tries another bouncer but this is down the leg side. Pradosh Ranjan Paul gets inside the line of it and hooks it over the fine leg fence for a biggie. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans win by 4 wickets, with 14 balls to spare.
No run, a bouncer now, ducked under
FOUR! Doing it in a hurry now! Back of a length and around leg, Pradosh Ranjan Paul swivels, rolls his wrists and pulls it away to the deep backward square leg fence for a boundary.
Short of a length and on off, Mathivannan M dabs it towards cover-point and calls for the single. The fielder scores a direct hit at the batter's end but Paul has dragged his bat inside. The replay confirms the same. 150 up for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans!
No run, the batter has just blocked that from the crease.
SIX! FIFTY FOR PAUL! A fantastic knock and he has kept his team ahead in this game at all times. He will want to stay till the end now. Gurjapneet Singh bangs this into the pitch, around off. Pradosh Ranjan Paul sways away, uses the pace and upper cuts it over the third man fence for a biggie.

Ganesh S comes down the track but gets beaten in flight. He has a poke at it but misses and the keeper Ram Kumar takes off the bails. The third umpire has a look at it and finds that Ganesh didn't manage to get back in time. 29 needed now off 31 balls.
No run, the batter goes back and steers it, but straight to the fielder at short third.
SIX! BANG! Tossed up around off, not all that full. Ganesh S goes down on one knee and hammers the slog sweep in front of deep mid-wicket for a biggie.
