  • Sri Lanka have managed to record nine wins in their last 10 attempts versus West Indies in men's ODI cricket (L1), they are currently enjoying a five-match winning streak against them.
  • West Indies are set to face Sri Lanka on home soil in a men's ODI for the first time since July 2013; a fixture which was won by the tourists, doing so by a margin of 39 runs.
  • West Indies have suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats in men's ODI bilateral series ahead of this three-match series versus Sri Lanka; one of those losses came against the Lions (February-March 2020) as well as Bangladesh at the start of this year.
  • Sri Lanka come into this series having managed to record victories in 10 of their last 16 men's ODI games (L6), they tasted defeat in 13 of their 14 outings in the format immediately before this current run (W1).
  • West Indies have only recorded three victories in their 13 men's ODI matches at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (L10), their lowest win rate (23%) of any of their home venues (min. 5+ matches); they did record a win in their last such outing at the Antigua venue, however (v India in July 2017).
  • These sides come into this men's ODI series on the back of three T20I encounters; a series which saw West Indies record a 2-1 victory, with the hosts striking 29 sixes to Sri Lanka's nine – only England (8.1) average fewer balls per boundary than the Windies in men's ODIs since the start of 2019 (9.5).
  • Nicholas Pooran (currently on 23 innings) is 68 away from reaching 1,000 ODI runs - if he gets there in this match, he will become the third-fastest man to manage it for the West Indies; only Sir Viv Richards (21 innings) and Gordon Greenidge (23 innings) have got to the milestone in fewer knocks.
  • Dushmantha Chameera (Sri Lanka) bowled three deliveries at Nicholas Pooran (West Indies) during the recently completed men's T20I series, dismissing him with two of those balls without conceding a run against him.
  • Shai Hope (West Indies) has managed to post three consecutive half-centuries in men's ODIs versus Sri Lanka ahead of this contest, scoring 115, 51 and 72 in those knocks (2020).
  • No player from a Test-playing nation has dropped more catches in men's ODIs since the start of 2020 than Kieron Pollard (three); only one of those was an easy chance, however (one medium and one hard).
