We are back for West Indies' replay with the bat. The players have already entered the field. Brandon King and Shai Hope will open the inning for the Windies. Dunith Wellalage will start things off with the ball for the Lankans. Away we go...

  • .

    ... THE RUN CHASE ...

  • .

Exciting chase on the cards - Well, if we turn some pages of the history book, it says that 194 is the highest successful run chase on this ground, and it was the Windies who did it against India back in 2017. Today, they will look forward to breaking the record and chasing this 195-run target. Stay tuned for the second inning.

  • .

Dasun powers Lanka's fightback - Just when the innings threatened to unravel completely, Kamindu Mendis and Kamil Mishara forged a timely 45-run partnership to steady the ship and breathe life back into Sri Lanka's total. When Kamindu fell, Dasun Shanaka stepped in and took on the mantle with equal conviction. Mishara continued to punish anything loose, eventually bringing up his fourth T20I half-century, while Shanaka matched him stride for stride with a stunning fifty off just 20 balls. The two batters remained inseparable right through to the final over, stitching together a magnificent 103-run partnership that utterly transformed the complexion of the innings and propelled Sri Lanka to a highly formidable total.

  • .

Dasun Shanaka is up for chat - Shanaka says that they had the discussion to finish the innings well, and the coach has given him enough clarity, and is happy that he and Mishara could take it deep. Adds that the wicket was a bit two-paced in the initial stages, but today he needed to change the momentum and pre-empted the type of deliveries that were going to be bowled.

  • .

The Windies bowlers make early inroads - Sri Lanka, after being asked to bat first, got off to a promising start, huge thanks to their captain, Kusal Mendis, who looked in breathtaking touch from the start. However, Pathum Nissanka's departure triggered an alarming collapse. From a healthy 40 for no loss in the fifth over, Sri Lanka lost three wickets in three consecutive overs, with Matthew Forde, Shamar Joseph, and Shamar Springer all striking in quick succession to leave the Lankans reeling.

  • .

A titanic effort from the Lankans - What a remarkable turnaround we witnessed from Sri Lanka's middle order. The Windies held better control through the first ten overs, but the moment the game entered its second phase, the script was flipped entirely. Sri Lanka's middle order batters took the attack to the opposition, batting with freedom and flair to haul their side to an imposing total of 194.

  • 19.7

OUT! TIMBER! Shamar Joseph wrestles back some momentum for West Indies with a stellar final over as Sri Lanka finish with 194/6 on the board. Shamar goes full and angles it just across off. It is a low full toss and Dunith Wellalage shuffles to the off side, looking to help it past short fine leg, but misses. The ball goes off the pads and onto the stumps and just one bail slowly falls off. Shamar is appealing for LBW but he later realizes that the batter has been bowled out.

  • 19.6

A low full toss, darted across off, Kamil Mishara reaches out and pings the punch to deep cover for a single.

  • 19.5

That's perfection from Joseph. Full and wide outside off, lands it just inside the tramline again and Kamil Mishara is unable to get bat to ball.

  • 19.4

WIDE! Shamar Joseph gets away with a really poor delivery. Full again, and wide outside off, lands beyond the tramline and even beyond the cut strip. But because the ball was past the stumps before it landed, it will be just a wide and not a No Ball.

  • 19.3

Just inside the tramline. Very full and angled across off, Kamil Mishara fails to reach it.

  • 19.2

Very full on the pads, clipped away to deep mid-wicket for a single.

  • .

Dunith Wellalage is the next batter at the crease.

  • 19.1
Dasun Shanaka c Shimron Hetmyer b Shamar Joseph 58 (24)

OUT! CAUGHT! Finally, some respite for West Indies. Shamar Joseph goes pace on, bowling it full and at the toes. Dasun Shanaka leans on to flick but ends up spooning it a bit. The ball goes high towards cow corner, where Shimron Hetmyer runs to his left from deep mid-wicket and gobbles up the catch. End of a momentum-shifting innings from Shanaka.

  • .

Shamar Joseph to bowl the final over.

  • 18.7

Short of a good length and outside off, smacked away to deep cover for one.

  • 18.6

Full and straight, hit down the ground to the left of long off for a single.

  • 18.5

FOUR! How's that ended there? Fuller in length, attacking the stumps. Kamil Mishara looks to reverse flick, but sees the ball agling in and leaves the bat face open towards the other side. The ball gets scooped over short fine leg for a boundary.

  • 18.4

Back of a length and outside off, Shanaka hangs back and goes after it but slices it high around the point region. Roston Chase takes the catch, but it won't count and the batters get a single.

  • 18.3

NO BALL AND FOUR! Oh, the Windies bowling attack has crumbled completely under pressure, and that is a howler from Shamar Springer. A chest height full toss outside off. Dasun Shanaka goes after it and ends up slicing it all the way over deep third for a six. Free Hit loading...

  • 18.2

Shorter now and outside off, slashed away to deep backward point for a couple of runs.

  • 18.1

SIX! This has been a real blitz from Dasun Shanaka and he brings up his FIFTY off just 19 deliveries. Springer misses the yorker and serves it in the slot around off. Dasun walks inside the line and clobbers it a long, long way over the long on fence for a mammoth six.

  • .

Who will bowl the penultimate over? Shamar Springer it is.

  • 17.6

Full and outside off, slashed away from deep inside the crease to sweeper cover for a single. Another over that goes for double-digit runs, 79 in total in the last 5 overs.

  • 17.5

SIX! Dasun Shanaka only wants to deal in sixes right now. Around the wicket again, dug in short on leg, a bit slower too. Shanaka gets inside the line and climbs into the pull, nailing it deep into the stands over the fine leg fence.

  • 17.4

Yorker-length delivery speared across off, Mishara reaches out and cue-ends it to short third for a quick single.

  • 17.3

FOUR! Shepherd switches back to over the wicket, but it doesn't matter. Full and straight, Mishara backs away and pummels it back over the umpire's head for a boundary.

  • 17.2

SIX! Right into the swinging arc and Kamil Mishara brings up his FIFTY in style. Short-pitched delivery, angled in from around the wicket. Mishara is ready for it, and he swivels back before nailing the pull just in front of deep square leg for a biggie.

  • 17.1

Full-pitched delivery around off, Dasun Shanaka gets across to lap but miscues it on the bounce to short fine leg for a single.

  • .

That's a wrap - That is all from us from Sabina Park, where Sri Lanka have bounced back in style to level the three-match T20I series against West Indies. With the series now locked at 1-1, everything comes down to the decider on 14th June, Sunday, right here in Kingston, Jamaica. The final T20I is scheduled to begin at 12.30 am GMT, with both sides having one last shot at claiming the series. Join us then for what promises to be a thrilling finish. Until next time, goodbye and take care!

  • .

The victorious skipper of Sri Lanka - Kusal Mendis praises his batting unit. First, he starts with Dunit's performance, the way he batted and put the pressure on the opposition really helped the team to post a good total on the board. Then he shifts to Kamil's innings, who played an anchor role for them, which is equally important for them. On being asked about their impactful changes in the playing XI, he says that they wanted to bring the lefty-righty combination in the middle order and that is the reason why they brought Kamil into the team. On being asked about the decider match, Mendis says that they will be ready to face the Windies. They will look forward to keeping things simple and playing basic cricket.

  • .

The captain of West Indies - On his stunning catch to dismiss Pavan Rathnayake, Shai Hope says the ball was heading to his right and he simply threw out a hand, with the catch sticking neatly. Assessing the defeat, he feels the West Indies fell short in execution despite having clear plans coming into the game. He admits the bowlers leaked a few extra runs but also believes the batters should have taken more responsibility during the chase. He adds that there are areas the team can improve on and that they will look to address them ahead of the next match. On chasing targets of 160 or more, he stresses the importance of playing to strengths while also adapting to the match situation. He feels the side has enough experience and quality, and that the issue is not poor batting but rather understanding key moments and executing better under pressure. Looking ahead to the final T20I, his message to the team is straightforward: go out and win the game.

  • .

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Dasun Shanaka wins the award for his superb knock of 58 off 24. He starts off saying that this knock was very special for him as they wanted to keep the series alive, and he is happy that they got the win. On his batting approach, he says that from the moment he stepped onto the crease, he wanted to change the momentum of the game. He was asked to play normal cricket shots, and he tried to listen to the coaches' advice. He also adds that Kamil Mishara did extremely well, hitting a couple of boundaries, which made his job easier, and overall, it was a good game of cricket for them.

  • .

    Presentation Time...

  • .

Sri Lanka seize control with the ball - Sri Lanka will be delighted with their bowling display. Dushmantha Chameera and Dunith Wellalage struck early before a chaotic spell, featuring missed chances off Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer, threatened to shift the momentum. However, Pavan Rathnayake's brilliant run out proved a turning point, allowing the spinners to take over. Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 3/38, Maheesh Theekshana removed Powell, and Chameera capped off a superb outing with 3/9 to help level the series.

  • .

From collapse to comeback - Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka posted a big total after stumbling to 43/3. It was the 103-run fifth-wicket partnership between Dasun Shanaka and Kamil Mishara that boosted the innings, with both getting to fiery fifties. Shamar Joseph was the pick of the bowlers with a three-fer, while Matthew Forde got a couple and Shamar Springer got one, but they leaked a bit too many at the death.

  • .

A chase unraveled - West Indies got off to the worst possible start, losing both openers inside two overs. However, then Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer launched a counter-attack. They did have some luck and made it count by putting together an 81-run stand, but Hettie's run out unraveled the chase, as both got out in the same over and it was a big collapse after that as they went from 108/4 to 122/8. Akeal Hosein and Shamar Joseph did hit a few lusty blows but that was never going to be enough.

  • .

We are going to a decider - A dominating performance from Sri Lanka and they have made it 1-1 in the series by completely outplaying the hosts. It is also a big confidence boost for the Lankans as they have broken a four-match losing streak in T20Is. West Indies did have their moments, both with bat and ball, but they just could not handle the pressure and will now have to look at a few things before the final game.

  • 18.1

OUT! TAKEN! A wonderful catch taken by Kamindu Mendis and West Indies have been bowled out, scoring 157 runs. Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 37 runs. Dushmantha Chameera comes around the wicket and bowls on a good length, angling across. Roston Chase opens his stance and heaves it across the line. However, Chase gets the height more than the distance and the ball balloons toward the deep mid-wicket region, where Kamindu Mendis moves to his right and takes an excellent diving catch.

  • 17.6

SIX! With that West Indies need 38 runs off the last 12 deliveries. Half-volley delivery, outside off, Shamar Joseph clears his front foot and smokes it downtown for six more runs.

  • 17.5

FOUR! Streaky! Full, angling across the batter. Shamar Joseph swings hard at it and induces an outside edge. The ball flies into the gap between short third and backward point for four runs.

  • 17.4

Another tight-length delivery, pitching it around the yorker length, on leg. Roston Chase jams it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

  • 17.3

Much fuller, just behind the yorker length, on off, with a hint of inswinger. Roston Chase jams it back to the bowler.

  • 17.2

Slower delivery now, on a nagging length, outside off, Shamar Joseph punches it to long off for a single.

  • 17.1

Full, outside off, Chase mistimes his heave to long on for a single.

  • 16.6

Around off, on a good length, Shamar Joseph attempts to sweep it away, but misses and wears on the pad.

  • .

Shamar Joseph is the last man in.

  • 16.5

OUT! TAKEN! The wrong'un does the trick once again for Wanindu Hasaranga and he gets his third wicket. Full-length delivery, googly, outside off. Akeal Hosein sits down on one knee to slog sweep it, but fails to get the connection from the middle of the bat. The ball hits the upper portion of the bat and loops toward deep mid-wicket, where Kamil Mishara settles underneath the skier to take a good catch.

  • 16.4

Short, outside off, Roston Chase punches it to deep point for one.

  • 16.3

SIX! More runs! Much fuller, around off and middle. Roston Chase crouches down on one knee and sweeps it uppishly to clear the deep square leg fence for four runs.

  • 16.2

DROPPED! Googly, outside off, Akeal Hosein sits down on one knee to loft it downtown once again, but ends up miscuing it toward mid off. The cover fielder runs backward toward the skier and the long on fielder comes in as well. However, none of the fielders attempted the catch as the ball dropped in between the fielders. Single taken.

  • 16.1

SIX! Another biggie from Akeal Hosein. Juicy half-volley, just outside off. Akeal Hosein lofts it downtown for half a dozen.

  • 15.6

Short and outside off, Roston Chase rocks back to drill it uppishly, over cover, but gets beaten on the outside edge.

  • 15.5

Fuller, around off, Akeal Hosein drives it wide of cover for one.

  • 15.4

Flat and overpitched, on off, Akeal Hosein jams it back to the bowler.

  • 15.3

SIX! What a way to get off the mark. Pitches it much fuller, outside off, Akeal Hosein shuffles across the stumps and lofts his arms to unleash it over long on for a flat six.

  • 15.2

Short, outside off, Roston Chase punches it to long on for a single.

  • 15.1

Carrom ball, a touch fuller, wide outside off, Roston Chase looks to punch it from his back foot to cover, but it zips past the outside edge.

  • .

    Akeal Hosein walks up next.
