We are back for the second chapter to unfold! The players have already taken the field. Shai Hope and Brandon King to open the inning for the Windies. It will be spin to start for the Lankans as usual and it's Dunith Wellalage with a slip in place. Let's play...

  • .

    ... THE RUN CHASE ...

  • .

Winner takes all - As the Windies prepare to embark on their run chase, the question lingers in the air, can they successfully chase down the target, or will the Lankans' bowling unit rise to the challenge? Stay tuned as the drama unfolds in the pursuit of victory in this series decider.

  • .

Wellalage stand tall amid chaos - Wickets continued to tumble, and at 111 for 6 in the 15th over, Sri Lanka's innings was teetering on the edge. But one man refused to surrender to the script, and that was Dunith Wellalage. Standing tall amid the chaos, he took charge with a strokeplay that was nothing short of outstanding, single-handedly dragging his side towards a competitive total. Hasaranga played his part admirably too, holding firm alongside Dunith and contributing a brisk 21 off 13 balls to keep the partnership flourishing. The two were building something special, but an exceptional piece of fielding from Sherfane Rutherford brought their 49-run stand to an abrupt end in the penultimate over. Dunith, however, refused to depart without a fight, battling through to the final over before Shamar Joseph eventually had the last word, ending a brave and defiant knock that deserved to be on the winning side.

  • .

Instant impact from Joseph - Sri Lanka made a nervous start, losing their captain early and putting themselves immediately on the back foot. Pathum Nissanka and Kamindu Mendis provided some stability, stitching together a composed 43-run partnership to steady the innings. However, the introduction of Shamar Joseph into the attack proved to be the turning point. The West Indies seamer struck twice back-to-back to shatter the partnership and reignite the hosts' dominance. The pattern that emerged was a frustrating one for Sri Lanka. Their batters were doing the hard work, settling in, finding their feet, and building towards something significant, but just as each one threatened to shift gears and put the scoreboard under pressure, the Windies hit back with a wicket.

  • .

Jason Holder is up for a chat - Holder says that it is a surface where you can get set and then take on the bowling, and credits Shamar Joseph for the way he bowled. On the wicket of Dasun Shanaka, Holder says that he just wanted to be on the mark and hit the stumps. Reckons that the Powerplay will be crucial for them with the bat, and if they get a could start, they can chase it down.

  • .

Decider drama - WOW! That was some inning to witness. Overall, it was an excellent cricket from both camps. West Indies were the ones who were upfront in the first 10 overs, but in the latter half of the inning, Dunith Wellalage's innings revived the game for the Lankans. However, Shamar Joseph has had a game to remember, getting his first FIVE-FER in T20s, especially in this crucial series decider.

  • 19.6

OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! A high-five for Shamar Joseph and yet again, he delivers big time in the final over. A five-for for Joseph and Sri Lanka finish get bowled out for 169 runs. A straight yorker, at almost a searing 150 clicks. Maheesh Theekshana backs away to hit it through the off side but is beaten all ends up. • .

Three balls to go and Eshan Malinga is the new man in.

  • 19.3
Dushmantha Chameera c Brandon King b Shamar Joseph 0 (1)

OUT! CAUGHT! Oh, that's another very good catch and for the second time in this game, Shamar Joseph will be on a hat-trick. Joseph bangs it in quick and short over off. Dushmantha Chameera backs away to scythe it over the off side but mistimes it badly over covers. Brandon King runs back over his head and pouches it brilliantly over his left shoulder.

Dushmantha Chameera comes out to the middle.

  • 19.2
Dunith Wellalage c Matthew Forde b Shamar Joseph 43 (28)

OUT! CAUGHT! That's a fine catch from Matthew Forde and finally, Shamar Joseph gets the better of Dunith Wellalage. Joseph bowls a heavy length, hammering it around the leg stump. Wellalage gets cramped for room but goes through with the big hoick leg side. Gets more height than distance and Forde comes charging in from the deep, puts in the slide andtakes it well. End of a fine, fine knock from Wellalage.

  • 19.1

FOUR! High over the in-field. Slower one, back of a length and around off. Dunith Wellalage stands tall and flat-bats it high over mid off. The ball lands well out of reach of Rovman Powell and tickles into the fence.

  • .

Shamar Joseph to bowl the final over.

  • 18.6

Maheesh Theekshana is the next batter.

  • 18.4
Wanindu Hasaranga run out (Sherfane Rutherford) 21 (13)

OUT! WANINDU IS RUN OUT! Wow, a rocket of a throw from Sherfane Rutherford and Wanindu Hasaranga is a goner. Matthew Forde stays around the wicket and spears a full one across the right-hander. Hasaranga hangs back and squeezes the ball away down to the left of deep backward point. The batters pick up one and then push hard for two. However, Rutherford is quick to get around and fires in a direct throw at the stumps at the keeper's end. Hasaranga dives in but not before the bails are dislodged.

  • 18.3

Roston Chase saves a certain boundary here. Pace-off delivery, cutting back into middle and leg. Wellalage makes room and slices the cut between short third and backward point. Chase at the latter position, springs to his right and keeps it down to a single.

  • 18.2

A yorker, on the money. Slower one, angled across off, Hasaranga stabs it down to short third and rotates strike.

  • 18.1

Pitched full and around off, eased into the off side for a single.

  • 17.7

FOUR! The off-side assault continues from the Lankan batters. Dug in a bit shorter around off, Wanindu Hasaranga backs away and pings the ball off the middle of the bat as he slashes it up and over cover-point for a boundary.

  • 17.6

Oh, that's untidy from Brandon King. Very full on middle and leg, Wanindu Hasaranga backs away and punches it back. Holder gets a hand down low to his left and deflects it to mid off. King gets across to his right to cut it off but fumbles itbehind andthe batters get two runs.

  • 17.5

Holder keeps the length relatively full, attacking the stumps, Wellalage hits it down to long on and turns the strike over. 150 up for Sri Lanka.

  • 17.3

Just over! Pitched-up delivery, angled into the stumps. Wellalage makes a bit of room and forces the lofted shot over wide mid off and clears Rovman Powell, picking up a single.

  • 17.2

WIDE! Attempted slower one, into the pitched well outside off. Left alone by Wellalage.

  • 17.1

Lands the yorker on middle and leg, Wanindu Hasaranga taps it off the face of the bat andbehind point for a single.

  • .

Onto the Test matches - There's just one thing left to do now, and that's for Shai Hope to go on and lift the trophy. The Windies players rejoice and pose for a group photo as well. Right then, after Sri Lanka took the rain-marred ODI series 1-0, West Indies have roared back to clinch the T20I series 2-1 and level up the multi-format series overall. Next up, the two sides will go up against each other in a two-match Test series, beginning on Thursday, June 25, in North Sound, Antigua. That game will begin at 2 pm GMT, but you can tune in much sooner to catch our build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!

  • .

The winning skipper of West Indies - Shai Hope starts off saying that he feels great as the supporters come in large numbers, and he feels happy to give something in return. Adds that there is not much time between the games, so it's important to learn quickly from the matches and implement them in the next one. Regarding the plans for the World Cup, he says that each game and each series will be very important to them, and they will do their best to play good cricket and win matches in succession.

  • .

Let's now hear from Sri Lanka's captain - Kusal Mendis starts by applauding the batting unit, especially Dunith Wellalage, and reckons that they did well in the series but missed a few chances. Adds that he was happy with the score on the board, given the nature of the pitch, and lauds more praise on Dunith's all-round ability.

  • .

Player of the Match & Series - Shamar Joseph is adjudged as the POTM for his stellar five-wicket haul, and also the POTS for picking up a total of 11 wickets in the three-match T20I series. Shamar, on the reason behind his breathtaking performance, says that he tries to be consistent with his bowling and also gives credit to the bowling staff who work day in and day out to make the player do better. He adds that he always tries to execute the plan he's been assigned to do, and he feels today he did well. About his body workload, he says that he is naturally fit as he continuously works on his body. Bowling quick in natural for him as he wants to become the best in the country.

  • .

    The Presentation ceremony...

  • .

Recapping the first innings - Shai Hope won the toss and opted to bowl first, despite watching his side fail to chase in the previous game. Sri Lanka lost their skipper early, after which Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara built a steady stand. However, they kept losing wickets throughout the middle phase, going from 51/1 to 111/6. However, in the final few overs, Dunith Wellalage started to fire and played a handy cameo of 41 runs, before Shamar Joseph bowled a fine final over, picking up 3 wickets in the over, and 5 in total in the game as the Lankans finished with 169 runs on the board.

  • .

The Lankans pay for fielding lapses - For the majority of the chase, Sri Lanka were ahead in the game and seemed favorites to clinch the series. Dunith Wellalage handed them the early breakthrough and then Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga wreaked havoc in the middle phase by picking up wickets in a heap. However, Eshan Malinga dropped Sherfane Rutherford off his own bowlinga nd then Dasun Shanaka put him down at long on as well, allowing a big partnership to flourish. In the end, it was Dushmantha Chameera who conceded back-to-back overs, where he went for 20-plus runs that proved to be the real difference.

  • .

The middle order comes clutch - After losing skipper Shai Hope in the very first over, West Indies needed some sort of a spark, which was provided by Shimron Hetmyer as he stitched together a solid stand with Brandon King. However, once King got out, it triggered a mini collapse and the hosts slipped from 52/1 to 53/4. Then came the game-changing stand between Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford, worth 81 runs and that put the game in the balance. Powell got out towards the end and West Indies still needed 36 off 18 balls, but Jason Holder smashed 3 sixes in the 19th over to put the game within the hosts' reach. Rutherford did get a couple of lives, but he made good use of them to score an unbeaten 54 and even hit the winning runs.

  • .

A record-breaking night for the Windies - History has been made today at Sabina Park as West Indies notch up their highest successful chase at the venue, and not only that but they did it under pressure, sealing the T20I series 2-1. Also, according to the on-air commentators, this is the first bilateral T20I series win for West Indies since 2024. Spare a though for Sri Lanka, who fought back in the second game and seemed ahead in this game as well, but it just wasn't meant to be.

  • 19.5

That's it, West Indies have done it! Sherfane Rutherford takes the single and that will be enough for the Windies to get across the line. Full toss from Shanaka, just outside off. Rutherford tries to slog it away to get the win with some style, but miscues the shot. The ball loops and drops in the vacant mid off region, where the batter gets a single. West Indies beat Sri Lanka by five wickets and win the series 2-1.

  • 19.4

FOUR! That will bring up FIFTY for Sherfane Rutherford and level the scores as well. Full-length delivery, outside off, Rutherford plays the cover drive but uses his bottom hand to take the aerial route, over cover. Wanindu Hasaranga runs to his left from the sweeper cover region and tries to flick it, but fails to get the job done completely. The ball drops and spins away to hit the boundary ropes.

  • 19.3

WIDE! Back of a length, but sprays wide outside off. Sherfane Rutherford lets it travel to the keeper.

  • 19.2

Another dot! Yorker, wide outside off, Sherfane Rutherford looks to jam it away, but induces an inside edge and the ball bumps back to the bowler.

  • 19.1

A dot to start! Full and slow, wide outside off, Sherfane Rutherford tries to spank it through cover, but gets beaten on the inside edge due to lack of pace.

  • .

Wow, what a difference 24 hours makes. Last night, Dushmantha Chameera was the hero for Sri Lanka, picking up 3 for just 9 runs, and tonight he's gone for 64 runs in his 4 overs, and his last couple of overs have all but cost Sri Lanka the game. Just 5 runs to defend and Kusal Mendis tosses the ball to Dasun Shanaka. Are we in for another surprise?

  • 18.6

SIX! Jason Holder, you beauty! Pitches it up, wide outside off, Jason Holder crouches a bit and lofts it nonchalantly, over the wide long off fence for six more runs.

  • 18.5

SIX! 12 runs off 7 balls now! Dushmantha Chameera is on pressure and fails to execute the yorker, spilling a low full toss, on the stumps. Holder goes for big swing and clears the long on fence for six more runs.

  • 18.4

Full and wide outside off, Jason Holder opens the face of the bat to steer it away, but gets the inside edge, before the ball rolls to the vacant mid-wicket region. Brace taken by the batter.

  • 18.3

SIX! That is the biggie that the Windies were searching for. 20 runs needed off 9 balls. Slower delivery from Chameera, well outside off, Jason Holder clears his front foot and smokes it downtown for a massive six.

  • 18.2

Another fuller delivery, just behind the yorker length, on middle, Sherfane Rutherford jams it to long on for a single.

  • 18.1

Much fuller, around the pads of the batter, Sherfane Rutherford clips it through the vacant mid-wicket region and gets a couple of runs.

  • .

Dushmantha Chameera to continue? Yes. This means it will be either Dunith Wellalage or maybe even Dasun Shanaka to bowl the final over.

  • 17.6

Full toss, but offering a lot of width, Sherfane Rutherford punches it to deep backward point and takes a single.

  • 17.5

FOUR! Nicely played! Short of a length, leg cutter as well, at the stumps. Sherfane Rutherford swats it to the backward square leg fence and gets the boundary.

  • 17.4

Another crucial dot! Slower delivery, wide outside off, Sherfane Rutherford drives it to extra cover.

  • 17.3

Excellent bowling from Malinga! Much fuller and wide outside off, but keeps the line just inside the guideline. Sherfane Rutherford lashes it away but fails to get near to the delivery.

  • 17.2

Full, outside off, Holder clips it to deep mid-wicket and gets a single.

  • 17.1

Much fuller, angling it wide across the batter. Sherfane Rutherford drills it straight at the point fielder, who fails to field it cleanly. The ball gets deflect off toward his right and the batter gets a single.

  • .

Another twist in the tale. Jason Holder walks out to bat next.

  • 16.9

OUT! CAUGHT! Dushmantha Chameera finally gets a hold of his nerves and restores a bit of parity. Chameera bowls a leg cutter, just back oif a length and outside off. Rovman Powell throws his hands at it but ends up slicing it over the cover region. Wanindu Hasaranga runs back and takes a fine catch under pressure. Powell's blitz ends and West Indies now need 36 runs off 18 balls.
