  • Australia will be gunning for a third-straight win over India in T20I cricket for the first time since a run of three victories between 2008 – 2012, after successive victories in Guwahati last year and in Brisbane on Wednesday.
  • This will be just the second time Australia and India have met in a T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground, India won the previous encounter by seven wickets.
  • Australia have won four of their five T20I matches at the SCG, however their one defeat in that run did come against India (2016).
  • After their loss in Brisbane, India will now be out to avoid back-to-back defeats in T20I cricket for the first time since January 2017.
  • Since the start of 2016, India have won 19 times when they have had to chase a total (L5) – they have never lost back-to-back games in which they have batted second in this period.
  • Australia have now claimed victory in 10 T20Is this year – they have never won 11 or more matches in this format in a calendar year (10 – 2010).
  • Australia’s D’Arcy Short is just 18 runs short of reaching 500 T20I runs, having made his debut in February this year – only two other left-handed batsmen have reached this milestone for Australia (Michael Hussey – 721; David Warner 1792).
  • India’s Jasprit Bumrah is just two wickets shy of claiming 50 wickets in T20I cricket; only Ravi Ashwin (52) has taken more for India in this format.
  • India’s Virat Kohli (427) is just 73 runs shy of posting 500 runs against Australia in T20Is – no other player has reached this milestone against any side.
  • Australia’s Andrew Tye (36) needs just three wickets to move to second on the all-time wicket-takers list for Australia (James Faulkner 36, Mitchell Johnson 38).
